In a recent development surrounding the ongoing case of popular activist and content creator VDM (VeryDarkMan), his legal representative, Barrister Adeyanju Deji, has sounded the alarm on what he describes as a looming wave of political intimidation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking amidst court proceedings, Barrister Adeyanju suggested that the government’s actions against VDM may be just the beginning of a broader crackdown on voices of dissent. “Tinubu is coming for everyone — one by one,” he warned, listing activists, artists, and celebrities as potential targets.
According to the lawyer, while many in the public remain distracted by political theatrics and social media banter, the administration may be methodically silencing opposition. “Clowns who love praising politicians every four years still think it’s all games and jokes. But by the time he’s done, no one will have the guts to challenge him or his government,” he stated.
He even went as far as to suggest that the president could eventually attempt a third term, a move that would directly contradict the Nigerian Constitution.
The comments have since sparked debate online, with many Nigerians expressing concern about the future of free speech, democratic integrity, and the role of public figures in holding leaders accountable.
