Prominent Nigerian political commentator and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has made a bold and controversial statement regarding Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, describing him as a “desperate politician” whose quiet demeanor masks deeper political ambition and calculated maneuvering.

In a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Adeyanju stated:
Shettima is a desperate politician. He may be quiet but you can sense/see the hand writing on the wall of how desperate he is. Whenever I remember him, I pray that may nothing happen to Tinubu…
He referenced the recent APC North East meeting, suggesting that the events that transpired there were only “a tip of the iceberg” compared to what Shettima is allegedly capable of.

The post has generated intense discussion across political circles and social media platforms, with many questioning the motive behind Adeyanju’s claims, and others voicing concern over what it could suggest about the internal dynamics within Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kashim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State, has largely maintained a low public profile since assuming office as Vice President. However, Adeyanju’s remarks hint at perceived undercurrents of power tussle or political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
While no concrete evidence was presented to back the allegations, Adeyanju’s warning “I pray that may nothing happen to Tinubu” has especially raised eyebrows, given the current President’s health concerns and the unspoken anxiety over succession within the ruling party.
