Controversial entertainer Speed Darlington has reportedly fled Nigeria amid growing legal trouble, just hours after being declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The polarizing social media figure, known for his eccentric style and unfiltered rants, is at the center of a storm following the release of a disturbing video in which he narrated a troubling encounter involving a 15-year-old girl at a hotel. In the now-viral clip, Speed Darlington claimed to have paid ₦2,000 to a hotel staff to clean a blood-stained bedsheet, sparking nationwide outrage.

The statement, widely interpreted as an admission of sexual misconduct, prompted immediate public backlash. Although Speed Darlington later posted a denial letter on Instagram claiming he had no sexual contact with the minor, the reaction was swift. NAPTIP launched an investigation and subsequently declared him wanted on allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
Shortly after the agency’s announcement, videos surfaced online showing Speed Darlington dragging suitcases through a Nigerian airport, reportedly en route to the United States. In one clip, he complained about a long layover on Air Peace, while another post hinted that he had landed in New York.
The entertainer’s flight from the country has only added fuel to public outrage, with many questioning whether his actions amount to an attempt to evade justice.
As of press time, NAPTIP has yet to confirm whether an international alert or extradition request has been initiated. Legal experts say the case could take on a diplomatic dimension if U.S. authorities are called in.
Meanwhile, civil society organizations are urging law enforcement to ensure that Speed Darlington faces a full investigation, regardless of his location.
The entertainer, often dismissed as a fringe online personality, is now at the center of a growing national conversation about online accountability, child protection, and the dangers of viral irresponsibility.
