There was mild drama at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (MMA 1) on Tuesday morning as former Edo State Governor and current senator, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, reportedly locked the terminal gate after missing a scheduled Air Peace flight to Abuja.

According to multiple eyewitnesses, Senator Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal around 6:20 AM for a 6:30 AM flight, only to discover that boarding had already been concluded and the flight had departed on time. Despite the delay being on his part, he expressed dissatisfaction with the airline’s decision to proceed without him.

In response, the senator allegedly ordered the terminal gate shut, an action that disrupted operations and left other passengers stranded. The incident forced Air Peace to temporarily move its operations to a different terminal while normalcy was restored.

A video that surfaced online shows confusion among travelers and staff, as the incident briefly paralyzed activities at the terminal. While airport officials have yet to release an official statement, staff at MMA 1 confirmed that the flight followed regular protocol, departing as scheduled.

This is not the first time public officials have been accused of attempting to delay or disrupt flights due to late arrival. The situation has drawn attention online, with social media users reacting strongly to what they described as a misuse of authority.

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Oshiomhole has not publicly commented on the matter.
