No one outside the official traditional authority of Opobo has the right to announce or insinuate the passing of our monarch,” it continued. “Such actions are not only disrespectful, they are a direct affront to the dignity of our royal institution.
The kingdom reaffirmed the monarch’s symbolic and spiritual importance to the Opobo people, calling on the public to remain calm, respectful, and patient in the face of misinformation.
The King is our symbol of unity and heritage, and we will not stand idly by while unfounded speculation is used to sow confusion and unrest.
